The Book Industry in Lebanon
Workshop, 5 July, 2002, Beirut-Lebanon

This national workshop on “The Book Industry in Lebanon” was organized by the Lebanese Center for Policy Studies (LCPS) in cooperation with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAF).

The workshop was based on the need to better define, estimate and highlight the creativity and input of the book industry in the Lebanese economy, in its current and potential status. The workshop also openned a large debate on the public policies and economic, legal and regulatory measures needed to foster the growth of the sector and the realization of its full potential, inside and outside Lebanon.

The workshop participants included key actors, leaders and analysts in the various areas of the book industry. The workshop aimed to discuss the initiatives and policies that would help to develop this vital sector in a world where the knowledge economy and the creativity have become one of the main components of the economic growth and social development.
