Objectives of the Study
The objectives of the study are:
- Describe the status of the skilled worker drawing on data collected
from representative sample of the skilled work force job market.
- Identity the skills in this simple, by sector, that are:
- most in demand in the market and available in some programs;
- most in demand in the market but unavailable and undervalued by the
public and/or too costly for the training institutes to teach;
- available in the market and offered in training programs but not in
demand;
- projected to be in demand in the near future
- Tabulate and analyze the findings of 2, above
- Discuss the special status of the construction sector
- Describe and evaluate the effectiveness of the relationship between
vocational training programs and employing business:
- the direct channels of communication and job-recruiting mechanisms
available;
- the quality and relevance of training programs with respect to the
needs of the market;
- the training programs which should be discontinued or modified, and
those which should be introduced;
- the attitude of businesses towards training programs in general whether
they are in-service or pre-service (formal and informal).
- Recommend to NEF priorities for future development activities by identifying:
1. areas in which information and documentation is a priority, such
as new technologies available in industries;
2. existing businesses and programs with strong potential for growth
which would best benefit from support;
3. the need for awareness programs in schools, businesses, and government,
and for the general public through exchange of information and the creation
of new contacts within the sector.
