Upon request from the Central Statistics Administration, the LCPS published a book on the petroleum sector in Lebanon. In the view that Lebanon is an importer of petroleum and not a producer, and in consideration of the fact that it is one of the third world countries which consumes the most amount of energy, the book aims to show the status of energy in the national economy and its effects on the standards of living.
The book also provides information on the importation, exportation, distribution, consumption, and the pricing of petroleum in Lebanon. In addition, it discusses the methodology used worldwide in dealing with energy, in order to evaluate Lebanon's status in comparison with other countries.
The book includes chapters on the structure of the petroleum sector in Lebanon, the role of the government in managing the sector, and the institutional status of Arab oil.
