The Arab-Israeli Multilateral Talks:
the Gathering and Dessimination of Information

This project involves the gathering and dissemination of information on the Arab-Israeli multilateral peace talks to policy makers, scholars, and journalists in Lebanon. Aside from information-gathering, the aim of the project is to inform the Lebanese public about the process of the multilateral negotiations, and involve government officials, scholars and journalists to start evaluating the effects of regional peace on the country, studying Lebanon's political and economic role in a future peace settlement, and devising coherent policies for itself.

With support from the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), the LCPS has gathered a group of experts in the fields of water and environment, regional economic development, arms control, and refugees to review and discuss available documents and information on the following topics: water resources, environment, refugees, arms control, and regional economic development. The groups have begun assembling essential documents and data regarding the above-mentioned issues and have written and published a number of articles in the Lebanese media. These serve to inform the public about the multilateral talks as well as generate debate on Lebanon's position in these talks.

Currently, the center is still in the process of collecting information on the five issues mentioned above. Information-gathering is a major factor for the success of our on-going multilateral project as it is important for government representatives, scholars, and journalists to start evaluating the effects of regional peace on the country and studying Lebanon's political and economic role within these talks.

The LCPS will make its documentation available to Lebanese academics, and the media in the hope of encouraging a public debate on the issues discussed in the multilateral talks.
