Lebanon’s Cultural and Creative Industries: How to Thrive in an Ailing Economy?
- Lina S. Maddah
In this policy paper, Lina Maddah focuses on the challenges and opportunities facing Lebanon's cultural and creative industries (CCIs). She highlights the sector's significant contributions to the economy and cultural identity but notes that it faces severe challenges, including financial instability, "brain drain," and a lack of coordinated policy support. Maddah calls for targeted interventions, including the creation of a national authority for CCIs, investment in digital transformation, and stronger regional collaboration to help the sector regain its competitive edge and contribute to Lebanon's economic recovery.
Lina S. Maddah is a Senior Economic Researcher at the Lebanese Center for Policy Studies.
