    As a leading research institution in Lebanon, LCPS is committed to producing high-quality research and analysis on a wide range of topics around governance, economic growth, sustainable development, and social policies. LCPS is a nonprofit, nongovernmental, and nonpartisan organization.

    The research areas for this position will focus on public policy, public administration, and the legislative process. 


    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Assist in conducting public policy research
    • Conduct desk reviews
    • Support the implementation of data collection activities, such as:
    • Designing surveys, focus group discussion guides, and interview guides. 
    • Coordinating and supervising fieldwork.
    • Consulting with experts, government officials, civic and political organizations, and research and media institutions.
    • Data analysis
    • Co-author policy-oriented publications such as: research papers, policy reports, briefs and articles, infographics, and animated advocacy or tutorial videos
    • Develop and deliver oral and visual presentations and participate in public debates on relevant topics
    • Identify issues for research and analysis
    • Contribute to writing research proposals

     

    Education and experience

    • Master’s degree in a relevant field of social sciences (political science, economics, public policy, public administration, international relations)
    • At least two years of relevant work experience and a demonstrated experience with conducting academic/policy research 


    Qualifications

    • Strong analytical thinking and excellent writing skills.
    • Demonstrated affinity with the mission and objectives of the Lebanese Center for Policy Studies.
    • Strong knowledge of legislative affairs.
    • Experience in quantitative and qualitative data management and analysis.
    • Proficiency in oral and written English is required; fluency in Arabic is highly desirable.
    • Experience with Stata and/or SPSS statistical software is highly desirable.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft office software such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
    • Interpersonal skills: Demonstrate an ability to work well with colleagues, partner organizations, and external institutions.
    • Commitment to uphold LCPS’s values of respect, inclusiveness and nondiscrimination.
    • Must be a resident of Lebanon.

    The Lebanese Center for Policy Studies (LCPS) welcomes applications from undergraduates and recent graduates for full-time and part-time internships, for periods ranging from 2 to 6 months. LCPS accepts interns with superior writing, organizing, computer, and foreign language skills.

    Tasks and Activities
    Accepted applicants will be placed in the appropriate department depending on the applicant's skills and qualifications and the needs of the LCPS programs. Tasks are assigned by the individual project directors and will vary according to project and program needs. Please note that both research and administrative assistance are expected.

    Internships are available in the following areas:


    Research: Interns participate in all activities of prospect research, including data collection, field research, translation, preparation of summary reports, and examination of primary and secondary sources.


    Public Events: Interns help plan and administer LCPS lectures, conferences, workshops, and outreach materials. Activities may include preparation of correspondence and reports, media follow-up, and answer inquiries on LCPS public activities.


    Publications and Documentation:
    Interns monitor local newspapers for relevant information, draft annotations of related books and studies, compile bibliographies, and assist in data entry.


    Compensation
    LCPS is unable to offer monetary compensation to interns. Interns are encouraged to explore with their institutions the possibility of receiving university credit for their work at LCPS. Upon request, interns may receive a letter of recommendation detailing their performance and activities during their stay at the Center.


    Insurance
    All interns are required to secure medical insurance at their own expense during their stay at LCPS.


    Accommodation
    LCPS will help foreign interns to secure lodging during their stay in Lebanon. All related expenses however remain the responsibility of the interns.
