Necessity-Driven Entrepreneurship in Creative Industries in Rural Areas: Pathways for Recovery

Today, more than ever, cultural and creative industries are placed at the forefront of local development agendas globally. These sectors contribute to the economy (resilience, recovery and growth), society and well-being of individuals. In this webinar, we discuss to what extent the crises have challenged creative industries in rural areas in Lebanon. Also, we highlight the sustainable business models that are imperative for the survival of creative NDEs in the short-term and the development of cultural production in the medium term.

We are focusing on creative industries during the times of crises for several reasons: (1) the importance of the diversification of economic activities in rural areas, (2) the significance of the creative businesses in supporting economic resilience and growth in rural areas, and (3) the potential of cultural and creative industries remains, to a large extent, an untapped area that needs attention from policymakers.
