Conference | Leveraging Economic Sectors of Promise in Lebanon: Agrifood, Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs), and Pharmaceuticals

The Lebanese Center for Policy Studies (LCPS), in partnership with the Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF), hosted a conference on Thursday, November 27, 2025, entitled “Leveraging Economic Sectors of Promise in Lebanon: Agrifood, Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs), and Pharmaceuticals” at the Gefinor Rotana Hotel in Beirut.

Lebanon’s protracted economic crisis continues to strain production systems, talent pipelines, and investment flows. These pressures have weakened the country’s capacity to generate sustainable growth and reduced its competitiveness across key productive sectors.

The Lebanese Center for Policy Studies (LCPS), in collaboration with the Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF), has been conducting sectoral studies focused on three key areas that greatly contribute to the national economy:

    • Roots of Change: Policy Direction for a Resilient Agri-Food Industry in Lebanon

    • Lebanon’s Cultural and Creative Industries: How to Thrive in an Ailing Economy?

    • Navigating Lebanon’s Economic Crisis: Challenges, Opportunities, and Strategic Solutions for the Pharmaceutical Sector

Building on these sector briefs and expert roundtables, this conference is organized to convene policymakers, industry leaders, academics, and international partners to translate research into actionable reforms in the three critical sectors: agrifood, cultural & creative industries (CCIs), and pharmaceuticals. Each session will (1) distill the latest LCPS findings and field evidence, (2) identify feasible policy levers, and (3) outline approaches to policy implementation and public–private cooperation.

These sessions will be followed by a dialogue with the Minister of Economy and Trade on how to transform recommendations into policy.

The conference opened with remarks by the Guest of Honor, Minister of Economy and Trade Amer Bisat, who spoke on "A Forward-Looking Approach to Sector-Led Recovery".
